International Conference on Design History and Design Studies in Taipeh (Taiwan)

From 25.10.-28.10.2016 the International Conference on Design History and Design Studies took place in Taipeh (Taiwan), the World Design Capital 2016. Macromedia Designprofessors Dr. Christof Breidenich and Ute Hilgers-Yilmaz participated with two presentations on current research conducted at the Macromedia University Cologne.
ICDHS is an international research community that focuses on design history and design studies. Founded in 1999, IDHS organizes an international conference every other year in order to increase cross-border knowledge exchange. Research topics of ICDHS are divided in four aspects: Design History, Design Policy, Research of Design Practice and Theories/Issues that are related to Design.

At this year’s conference in Taipeh, Macromedia professors from Campus Cologne contributed current research papers. Among them a design analysis of the infamous rethoric of the terror miliz Islamic State (Breidenich / Yilmaz / Spiller 2016) as well as an analysis how art, design and media increase the potential of creative methods in design and management (Breidenich 2016).
